At the high school level, advisories serve as close-knit groups within the broader school community. Each advisory consists of 10-15 students and one staff advisor. Every Wednesday, these groups come together to share lunch and strengthen their connections.

In addtion to building community, advisory teams focus on service to the local community and the world.  Each team identifies an unmet need, specific issue, or challenge that it wishes to address through outreach and sweat equity.  It is our goal that team members build strong bonds with each other and with the faculty advisor, who will serve as a mentor to and advocate for their advisees. Advisories participate in five service Fridays, which are integral to successful completion of the CSD curriculum.

In 9th grade students participate in grade-level advisory groupings to help make a successful transition to high school. Beginning in the sophomore year, Advisory becomes a mixed-age group that students may choose to remain in through graduation. Each spring we offer students the opportunity to make a change for the coming academic year.
