CSD: U.S. News "Best" High School Award Recognition
Good afternoon,
Thank you for a very successful opening three weeks of the school year. I am very pleased to share some recognition for CSD High School.
The U.S. News & World Report recently released the annual ranking of "Best" public North Carolina high schools for 2025 and Community School of Davidson was listed within the top 25 public high schools in North Carolina! CSD was listed as the #9 high school in the Charlotte-Metro region, #7 NC Charter School, and #3 Charter School in Charlotte-Metro region.
["Charlotte-Metro region" includes all of Mecklenburg, Union, Gaston, Lincoln, and Iredell counties.]
The National Rankings elevates CSD to the top 4.5% of public high schools nationwide. Public schools include: traditional public schools, magnet schools, charter schools, early colleges, and lab schools.
For high schools, the ranking is determined by a formulated combination of College Readiness Index (proportion of a school's 12th Graders who took and earned a qualifying score on AP/IB exam), College Curriculum Breadth Index (proportion of 12th Graders who earned a qualifying score on multiple AP exams), state assessment proficiency (Grades 9-12), state assessment performance (Grades 9-12), underserved student performance (Grades 9-12), and graduation rate.
The NC Charter Coalition published this brief write-up and The Charlotte Observer touted the top 10 in the Charlotte-region.
While emphasizing rankings does not truly align with The Basic School framework, we can (and should) be extremely proud of this recognition. Most importantly, being able to recognize our student's experience at CSD goes well-beyond anything that would ever show up in a "rankings" or "ratings" is a truer commitment to our mission and framework.
That said, congratulations to our administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents. This is a recognition to be shared by each and every stakeholder at CSD.
Thank you for being your best and have an enjoyable extended weekend,
