High School Visual Arts Studio Teacher

Essential Job Functions:

Developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in the visual arts; nurturing an aesthetic understanding and appreciation.

Cultivate in each student the use of critical and creative thinking skills; and perceptual awareness necessary for understanding and producing art.

Curriculum instruction (grades 9 -12)  will focus on two- and three-dimensional art including: the elements of art, the principles of design, art vocabulary, art criticism and methods related to various media (drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture).

Student sketchbook practice, student project planning, assessment rubrics, class critiques and discussions are important components of this position.

Studio management:  instructing students in proper care and use of tools and equipment, ordering classroom supplies, studio storage maintenance and materials distribution.

Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school community.
